The Checklist Manifesto

We live in a complex and uncertain world, where even the experts struggle. But acclaimed surgeon and best-selling author Atul Gawande finds a remedy in the simplest of techniques: the humble checklist.

Gawande explains how checklists actually work. He follows the checklist into fields beyond medicine, from disaster response to investment banking, skyscraper construction and businesses of all kinds.

I first read The Checklist Manifesto six years ago, immediately giving it five stars. And I’ve certainly benefited from the sound advice. It may sound obvious—to use checklists. A rational thing to do. But sometimes we forget. And that’s when mistakes happen.

The Checklist Manifesto is essential reading for anyone working to get things right. I’ll be reading my copy again this weekend!
